I love the way these things drive:
My wife says they’re like a “marshmallow cave” on the road. But damn if they’re not comfy and smooth at normal highway speeds.

Driving dynamics maybe. I hate the way they behave on the road.

Take your man card out and throw it in the trash... Soccer mom cards are sold at Walmart next to the Dr Phil magazines.

Fold the seats down.
Toss in mattress.
Marshmallow cave indeed...

I am now looking at such conveyances, at my wife’s behest. It’ll mean losing her perfectly nice RWD, manual station wagon, but life happens, and any of the recent V6 vans are faster than her 325. I don’t have to daily the thing, and if one makes her life easier, that’s good enough for me.

Further confession: I like minivans.

No. You’ll make it work.

Oppo confession: I really like minivans and prefer them to a lot of these crossovers for sale right now

Well, I might daily the 325 if we can make the money work, so it’s not all bad. She’s the one home with our soon to be two kids, and her dad is 6’6” and doesn’t fit well in the BMW, plus it’s too low for our moms to get in and out of comfortably, so it would make my life easier if hers is. As it is, our one kid fills the entire BMW with stuff for a simple day at the beach. Small children expand to fill all available space, it’s science.

It’s confession time?
I’ve driven both the Odyssey and the Sedona, and I urge you to go and try it out.
It’s amazing. Seriously.

I’ve driven a Sedona and it’s an excellent van - especially for the money.

Children - Killers of all fun and 2 seater-ness for at least 18 years.

Oppo truth - Hating on minivans is lame.

Ugh. Yeah, they drive okay, but I hate them the entire time. All the feelings of driving a truck with none of the ruggedness. Who cares what the passengers are doing? I’m stuck driving this damn POS because I like to drive therefore I’m always designated driver for long trips. I like fullsize vans, all the space and ruggedness that comes with a full frame and chassis. My old van:

I have driven a minvan as the second family vehicle for almost a decade.
The only time it bums be out is when I am cruising in the van pumping some tunes and I realize, “I am cranking Biggie Smalls in a minivan with youth soccer stickers on the hatch and the windows down...sigh. I am a dad. A hip dad, but a suburban dad nonetheless.”

Not killers of fun at all, a whole new & more rewarding dimension of fun in fact, but 2 seat cars are definitely out of the question for now.

You’re beating me when it comes to the amount of responsibilities you can handle... I won’t allow my woman to buy a guy because I don’t want to deal with the responsibility.. Same goes for the kiddo’s but now you can be one of those cool dads who goes Autocrossing with the kiddos

Such is life. They do have their purpose, and being a dad is worth it.

I’m keeping my ‘68 2002 for just that reason, hopefully. That car predates my wife, it stays.

We use one of these as a customer shuttle at the Honda dealer I work for, they do have a bumpin factory stereo. Fun fact time, If you floor it from a stop you will kick in the TCS due to tire spin....

Minivans are way more interesting and at least useful than those stupid CUV things. I definitely would like to own a minivan one day to use on road trips, use as a pickup truck with an enclosed bed, and would be a great camping vehicle. Gotta use the right tool for the right job!

I feel that minivans as family haulers are far superior to SUVs/CUVs. The cargo room is fantastic and the low floors and the gaping door openings makes unloading things/children much easier. My mom just got rid of her Odyssey to downsize since she doesn’t need all the room anymore but she said that she would have never gone to an SUV over the minivan for those reasons when my brother, sister, and I were younger.
